Chemical composition and control of Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc by essential oils

Abstract: Essential oils of medicinal plants show potential to control phytopathogens. Essential oils of Lippia sidoides Cham, Lippia lasiocalycina Cham, Lippia origanoides Kunth -Teresina, Lippia origanoides Kunth -Jatobá, Mesosphaerum suaveolens (L.) Kuntze, Croton sonderianus Muell. Arg. And Croton zehntneri Pax et Hoffm. were evaluated regarding their chemical composition and in controlling the Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc. The experiments were carried out in a completely randomized design with five concentrations and th… Show more

“…Some compounds originating from the MEP pathway (Figure 4), such as β-caryophyllene, can be found in a variety of plants, as an example, one of the most prominent constituents of the essential oils of Pterodon emarginatus and Schinopsis brasiliensis, exhibits antioxidant and anticancer activity (Donati et al, 2015). β-caryophyllene, also found in Croton zehntneri and Eugenia uniflora essential oils, presents antifungal activity (Santos et al, 2020;Costa et al, 2022). with significant biotechnological potential.…”
