Chemical composition and bioactivity of methanolic extract obtained from Lepista sordida

Abstract: The present study aimed at the evaluation of chemical composition and bioactive potential of methanolic extract obtained from Lepista sordida in terms of antioxidative and antimicrobial efficacy. The macrofungus is recognized for its high nutritional value and medicinal properties. However, to the best of our knowledge bioactivity of its methanolic extract is yet to be explored. In this investigation, quantitative analysis of mycochemicals revealed the extract contained significant amount of phenolic compounds… Show more

“…(2.083 ± 1.08 μg/mg) with gallic acid (17.1 ± 0.14 μg/mg) in L. sordida (Table 1) (Acharya et al, 2019). The presence of p-coumaric acid and pro-catechuic acid has also been reported from L. nuda (Table 1) (Ferreira et al, 2009).…”

“…However, β‐carotene and provitamin A are not abundant in L. nuda (Ferreira et al, 2009; Ouzouni et al, 2009). But traces of lycopene (0.045 ± 0.01 μg/mg) and β‐carotene (0.052 ± 0.04 μg/mg) are evidently found in L. sordida (Acharya et al, 2019). The tocopherols, being ample in composition, are analyzed and it is found that the β‐form and γ‐form of the tocopherols are abundant (Reis et al, 2012), whereas the α‐tocopherol isoform is less abundant, and δ‐tocopherol is totally absent in the studied samples (Elmastaş et al, 2007).…”
