“…A similar chemical trend is found in eastern Liaoning Province, China where a Paleoproterozoic metaborate deposit metamorphosed to upper amphibolite facies (700-750°C;~0.6 GPa) contains tourmaline that generally exhibits the O-P trend with Al as low as 3.01 apfu in accordance with the FeAl −1 exchange (Henry et al, 2008;Jiang et al, 1997;Palmer, 1995, 2002). These tourmaline compositions are somewhat different than the Namibian tourmalines in that they contain significantly greater amounts of Ca (0.11-0.62 apfu) and Mg (1.98-2.62 apfu).…”

“…To date, the boron isotopes have provided remarkable advancements in the studies of the formation process of nebulae and cosmic events, the processes of crust-mantle evolution and plate subduction effects, distinguishing the sedimentary environment, investigating ore genesis and tracking paleo-oceans and paleo-atmospheric conditions. Through a large number of studies on B isotopes by many domestic and foreign researchers, important advances have been achieved [3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11].…”

“…This method is classified into positive thermal ionization mass spectrometry (P-TIMS) and negative thermal ionization mass spectrometry (N-TIMS), in which the determination precision of N-TIMS is 0.5‰-1.2‰ (2σ), while that of P-TIMS is up to 0.2‰-0.4‰ (2σ) [6,[12][13][14][15][16][17][18]. However, complex chemical separation and purification steps are required in this method.…”

“…The analysed tourmalines from the Asarcık region are characterized by negative Eu and positive Ce anomalies, and such anomalies may reflect the redox reactions during the formation of tourmalines from hydrothermal fluids. The significant enrichment of heavy REE in tourmaline is in contrast to the REE patterns of the whole-rock granitoid (see Figure 6) and indicates a mobilization of heavy REE during hydrothermal processes (Jiang et al 1997(Jiang et al , 1999b(Jiang et al , 2004.…”

“…Concentration level of the Pb and Zn in tourmalines from the fresh and less-altered Asarcık granitoid and the quartz veins on log Pb versus Zn plot shows a general increase with increasing Zn content (Figure 10(a)). The Pb contents of tourmalines are, in general, higher than those of tourmalines from different geological environments including massive sulphide deposits (Taylor and Slack 1984;Griffin et al 1996), gold deposit (Jiang et al 2002), metamorphosed evaporates and associated tourmalines (Jiang et al 1997), porphyry Cu -Mo deposit (Yavuz et al 1999a), tin deposit (Jiang et al 2004), tourmaline-rich rocks (Pesquera et al 2005), and pegmatites (Roda-Robles et al 2004). Plots of log Pb versus Cu show no distinctive variation (Figure 10(b)), but contents of Pb and Cu in tourmalines from the fresh and less-altered Asarcık granitoid and tourmalines in the quartz veins display a positive correlation (r ¼ 0.92 and 0.83, respectively).…”
