Chem2Bio2RDF: a semantic framework for linking and data mining chemogenomic and systems chemical biology data

Abstract: BackgroundRecently there has been an explosion of new data sources about genes, proteins, genetic variations, chemical compounds, diseases and drugs. Integration of these data sources and the identification of patterns that go across them is of critical interest. Initiatives such as Bio2RDF and LODD have tackled the problem of linking biological data and drug data respectively using RDF. Thus far, the inclusion of chemogenomic and systems chemical biology information that crosses the domains of chemistry and b… Show more

“…This semantic approach to data integration has been pioneered by other research efforts in the biomedical domain (Belleau et al, 2008;Chen et al, 2010;Hardy et al, 2010;Hassanzadeh et al, 2009) . The platform provides a semantically integrated view of the data by exploiting an identity mapping service (IMS) to construct appropriate responses based on the contextual aspects of each query.…”

“…The graph itself is laid out using GraphViz. 8 Stronger connections are denoted with darker lines. Thicker borders around bundles denote those with more assays, and each bundle's width is proportional to the logarithm of the number of molecules tested.…”
