Chelation as a Method for Maintaining the Coliform Index in Water Samples

Abstract: The addition of a chelating agent to water samples examined for pollution may be one answer to the problem of maintaining the coliform index near the level existing when a sample is taken. For periods up to 24 hours, a chelating agent materially reduced the "death rate" of coliform bacteria.
