Checkerboard Electromagnetic Band Gap (Ebg) Structured S-Shaped Antenna for Wearable Applications

Abstract: A miniaturized wearable antenna with a compact EBG with checkerboard structure is designed. The structure is placed on a denim jeans material with thickness of 0.7mmand having dielectric constant of 1.7 and a loss tangent of 0.02. The antenna operates at a frequency of 2.5 GHz and has 0.33GHz bandwidth and 13.2% impedance bandwidth for ISM band applications.
