Charmonium dynamics in Au+Au collisions ats=200GeV

Abstract: The formation and suppression dynamics of J/Ψ, χc and Ψ ′ mesons is studied within the HSD transport approach for Au+Au reactions at the top RHIC energy of √ s = 200 GeV. Two prominent models, which have been discussed for more than a decade, are incorporated, i.e. the 'hadronic comover absorption and reformation' model as well as the 'QGP threshold' scenario, and compared to available experimental data. Our studies demonstrate that both scenarios -compatible with experimental observation at SPS energies -fail… Show more

“…Concluding, our procedure gives a reasonable description of data both at mid-and forward rapidity for different collision systems at RHIC, in contrast with the recent claim [44] that the CIM fails to reproduce forward rapidity data. We have shown that the situation is much improved by inclusion of a recombination term.…”

“…In extending our previous investigations, a few new developments have been incorporated apart from a readjustment of the two SHM parameters (T and V ) to LHC energies: i) an inclusion of bottom quarks and antiquarks as well as the corresponding bottom mesons and their leptonic decay modes, ii) an appropriate model for the energy loss of open charm mesons in central P b + P b collisions [47][48][49], and iii) a dynamical approach for the charmonium suppression and recreation in the partonic and hadronic phases [64,65] that supersedes the earlier studies within the HSD approach at lower energies [78]. With respect to the partonic channels for dilepton production in the PHSD no extensions had to be incorporated as well as with respect to the overall reaction dynamics of P b + P b collisions in the transport approach.…”

“…The failure of these 'standard' suppression models at RHIC has lead to the conclusion in Ref. 45 that the hadronic 'comover absorption and recombination' model is falsified by the PHENIX data and that strong interactions in the pre-hadronic (or partonic) phase is necessary in order to explain the large suppression at forward rapidities.…”
