This article is divided into two parts—in the first part, authors inform about their testing device that enables the acquisition of results from uniaxial and multiaxial fatigue tests (the bending−torsion combination). We present the approaches used during designing and building the testing device. The direct implementation of the research in the second part will concentrate on implementing the acquired results for the frame design of a vehicle worked out by the authors. The three-wheeled vehicle has the front steered wheel suspended in an unconventional way. This original design can cause an increased load on the vehicle’s frame. This can be apparent mainly during driving through curves. Therefore, the fatigue curves of the tested material (EN AW 6063) will be implemented from the point of view of its usability in operation. A vehicle frame is most often loaded by bending and torsion. The authors assess the influence of welding on the fatigue life of this unique unconventional vehicle by determining the fatigue curves of the material for its production. The stresses achieved on the test specimens fully correspond to the load of the frame (in welds) during its operation.

The article describes the design and optimization of operation of an electric bus powered by the hydrogen fuel cells. At the beginning, an approach to design of a 12-meter urban bus, powered by hydrogen, is presented, as well as examples of components for its construction. Next, the problem of selecting the size of traction batteries and stacks of the Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) hydrogen fuel cells was discussed. These are the key components affecting the price of the bus and should be subject to optimization. The results of optimization of the size of traction batteries and the fuel cell system for a bus traveling in inter-city traffic are presented. The optimization was based on data from the literature and data from the monitoring system of actual hydrogen powered buses located on the Internet platform. The main purpose of the research, which was to determine the total costs of ownership (TCO), is presented as well.

The basic problem concerning the waste management system is work organization, which should be effective with maximum profit and minimum financial outlays. This means that the key factor for the efficient functioning of this system are all types of costs. When collecting waste, the main operational cost factors are the driver's working time and the service time of the waste collection vehicle, as well as the route that the vehicle has to cover. The article presents route optimization solution for a vehicle collecting urban waste (both mixed and segregated) is a simple method of determining the order of driving through individual city streets. The prepared solution is universal and is not limited only to the surveyed housing estate. It presents a pattern that can be applied to other routes in a similar way. Shortening the distance and thus the working time is a result of minimizing empty runs and moving several times over the same section. Developing an optimal route for so many values requires very complicated calculations and would not reflect the real possibilities of waste collection by employees and MZGK Company. The presented solution can be used as an instruction to take the first steps to optimize the operation of the vehicle and as an initial point for further modifications of the operating system.
