Abstract:This paper discusses the development of a framework for characterizing the role of plasticity in the structural response of panels in high speed flows. The framework is developed around a commercial nonlinear finite element solver by incorporating CFD surrogates, for the coupled aerothermodynamic loads, in the form of user defined functions. This approach conveniently enables the study of complex built-up structural models, and the incorporation of advanced constitutive modules. The general features of the fra… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
