Characterizations and analysis of the antioxidant, antimicrobial, and dye reduction ability of green synthesized silver nanoparticles

Abstract: The current study was conducted to assess the potential of ginger rhizome extract (Zingiber officinale) for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) through the green method and its mitigating activity against pathogenic bacterial strains. AgNPs were synthesized through a simple one-step approach and characterized by UV-Visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), transmission electronic microscopy (TEM), and energy dispersive X-rays spectroscopy (EDS). PXRD and TEM results of AgNPs sho… Show more

“…As shown in Figure 3a, the pattern of AC@AgNP exhibits peaks at peaks at 2 θ angles of 38.19°, 45.71°, 64.16°, and 77.13° which corresponds to AgNPs. These results are in line with Muhammad et al (2020) and Tang et al (2017) except that the 2 θ angle in both studies varied slightly. The variation in the orientation of the peaks observed in this study and the aforementioned studies may be directly attributed to the treatments AC's used were subjected to.…”

“…04-0783 [13] matched well. Earlier reports as in [14] and [15] exhibited similar peaks as well.8.54 nm is the crystallite size determined from the XRD pattern using the Scherrer equation.…”

“…Aloe vera and Cucumis sativus were chosen for the biosynthesis of AgNPs because of their cost-effectiveness, availability, and medicinal properties. Biosynthesis was performed in the manner previously described 28 with minor modifications. A grinder was used to smash 50 g of Aloe vera and cucumber peel extracts, which had been cleaned and crushed in 500 mL of distilled water.…”
