Characterization of the Crystal Structure of Sesame Seed Cake Burned by Nd: YAG Laser

Abstract: This paper reports obtaining of useful and high-value materials from sesame seed cake (SSC). For this purpose, SSC sample was burned for 30 s using Nd: YAG laser with output power 60 W. The products of this process and non-burned SSC were characterized by X-ray diffractometer (XRD), energy dispersive x-ray (EDX) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) so as to investigate its crystal structure and chemical components. XRD results of the SSC before burning process showed amorphous silica, rhombohedral phase of ca… Show more

“…The large and large peak around 1030 cm -1 belongs to M-O-M structures in inorganic structure and is a very characteristic peak. The small sharp peak around 3284 cm -1 belongs to the -OH stretch in the inorganic structure (Chen et al, 2010;Sim et al, 2012;Jayarambabu et al, 2014;Gawbah et al, 2017).…”

“…There are challenges of using conventional heating vis-a-vis the laser-based combustion. Recently, reported the preparation of silica and silicon carbide from wheat roughage and sesame seed cake by Nd: YAG laser as the combustion source [3,4]. In addition, rice husk ash, which is rich in silica (92-97%), can be an economically feasible raw material to produce silica gel and powders [5].…”

“…Its special properties, such as high mechanical strength, flexural resistance, make this ceramic material ideal for esthetic crowns, bridges, and frameworks in the anterior and posterior region (El-Ghany and Sherief, 2016). There have been numerous research studies the effect of laser matter irradiation; for example, laser milk pasteurization (Marouf and Sara, 2018;Amna and Marouf, 2018), solar cell surface modification (Marouf et al, 2014, Islam et al, 2020, bee honey irradiation (Al Humira and Marouf, 2017) and production of highly value materials from agricultural waste (Gawbah et al, 2017;Gawbah et al, 2018). There have been numerous research studies the interaction of lowlevel lasers with biological materials such as blood; for examples; studding of He-Ne laser effect on human whole blood (Haimid et al, 2019a), investigating the effect of He-Ne laser on human whole blood (Haimid et al, 2019b), and it also used to induce emission in human teeth to distinguish www.universepg.com l UniversePG between dental caries and sound teeth (Marouf and Khairallah, 2019).…”
