Characterization of the complete chloroplast genome sequence of Vicia costata (Fabaceae) and its phylogenetic implications

Abstract: Vicia costata Ledeb. is a fine leguminous pasture which has advantages of drought resistance and barren tolerance. In this study, the complete chloroplast (cp) genome of V. costata was assembled and annotated. The total genome size of V. costata was 134,184 bp in length with IR loss. The cp genome encoded a set of 112 genes, containing 74 protein-coding genes, 34 tRNA genes, and 4 rRNA genes. The overall GC content was 34.82%. Phylogenetic analysis showed that V. costata got together with the same genus specie… Show more

“…Americanae formed sister clade with species of sections in the Vicia subgenus and were more closely related to sections in subgenus Vicia than sections in subgenus Cracca. In phylogenetic relationships analysis based on chloroplast protein-coding genes with 21 Papilionoideae subfamily, V. bungei was found to be closely related with the species of Vicia faba , Vicia sativa , and Vicia sepium in the Vicia subgenus ( Yi et al, 2020 ). Therefore, the species of sect.…”

“…The complete cp genome of V. cracca (GenBank accession no. MW266076) is a circular form of 126,272bp in length with 34.8% GC content and IR loss which is common in Fabaceae, especially in Papilionoideae (Cai et al 2008;Yi et al 2020). A total of 108 genes were predicted on this cp genome to composing of 75 encode proteins, 3 rRNA and 30 tRNA.…”
