“…Due to its low ash content, high volatility, and high calorific value, Zhundong coal is considered to be a kind of high-quality power coal. , However, serious fouling and slagging occur during the combustion of Zhundong coal. It is generally believed that the high content of alkali metal and alkaline earth metals (AAEMs) in coal is the main reason for fouling and slagging. , Most of AAEMs in the Zhundong coal can volatilize below 1000 °C and then enter the flue gas . The gaseous AAEMs in the flue gas can condense on the heat exchange surface and react with other minerals including silica and iron oxide at high temperatures to form more viscous particles, thus capturing more ash particles, forming thick deposits and causing severe slagging. , At present, several measures have been proposed and applied to coal-fired power plants, including measures of adding Jinggong coal, reducing the heat release in the furnace volume, and removing the slag and ash deposits .…”
