Barium titanate (BaTiO3, BT) nanofibers with a diameter range of 160 nm to 300 nm were prepared by drying electrospun BT/polyvinylpyrrolidone (BT/PVP) composite fibers for 1 h at 80°C in vacuum with a subsequent calcination in air for 1 h at a temperature range of 650°C to 750°C. The morphology and crystal structure of calcined BT nanofibers were characterized with the aid of XRD, FT-IR, SEM, and TEM. The XRD and FR-IR measurements confirm that BT nanofibers with a diameter of about 160 nm and a tetragonal perovskite structure were present in the electrospun fibers after calcination for 1 h at 750°C. The FR-IR analysis of the BT fibers reveals that the intensity level of the O-H stretching vibration bands (at 3430 cm −1 and 1425 cm −1 ) become weaker as the calcination temperature is increased and that a broad band at 570 cm -1 , which represents the Ti-O vibration, appears sharper and narrower after calcination at 750°C due to the formation of metal oxide bonds. In contrast, BT fibers prepared by a refluxing process in a nitrogen atmosphere show a dramatic change in crystal structure: the tetragonal structure changes to a cubic perovskite structure, probably due to the suppression of carbonate contamination. Thus, the calcination temperature and atmosphere appear to have a significant influence on the crystal structure of BT.

The ferromagnetic cobalt doped into Zinc Oxide (ZnO) crystals is a promising method for enhancing the performance of PiezoelectricBased Nano Generators (PENGs). The study reports the characterization and testing PENGs which simply fabricated from cobalt-doped ZnO nanofibers (NFs) synthesized by electro spinning machine. The electro spinning processes were conducted at a flow rate of 4 µL/min and at various cobalt concentrations followed by sintering at a temperature of 500°C. The X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) spectra demonstrate that the crystalline diameter of Co-doped ZnO NFs increased as the content of cobalt increased, up to a concentration of 9%. Meanwhile, the maximum output voltage and power density of PENGs with Co-doped ZnO NFs were 221.6 mV and 148.8 nW/cm 2 , respectively when the PENGs were subjected to a cyclic mechanical load of 0.5 kg. Therefore, PENGs fabricated from Co-doped ZnO NFs are challenging for the next generation of self-powered devices.

Ruthenium(Ru)-doped TiO 2 nanofibers were prepared using electrospun Ru-TiO 2 /poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc) fibers and subsequent annealing for 1 h at temperatures in the range of 500 C to 1000 C in air. The properties of the Ru-TiO 2 fibers were characterized as a function of the Ru content and calcination temperature using X-ray diffraction, thermal gravimetry with differential scanning calorimetry, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and viscometer, pycnometer and dynamic tensiometer measurements. Although the diameter of the fiber decreased slightly with increasing calcination temperature, no dramatic changes were observed with respect to the ruthenium content. The XRD and FT-IR results revealed that anatase phase and ruthenium metal began to be formed after calcination at temperatures above 500 C. Anatase and rutile phases and ruthenium metal coexisted in the fibers calcined above 600 C. No anatase phase was detected in the fibers containing ruthenium when they were calcined at 1000 C. The morphology of the fibers changed from smooth and uniform to porous with increasing temperature. The experimental results suggest that the calcination temperature and Ru content were influential in determining the morphology and structure of the fibers.
