“…Different pathogen species are often isolated from diseased tubers within the same affected crops (33) and the same potato tubers (34). Therefore, it is plausible that multispecies lesions can occur in nature.…”

“…In this study, we selected the most aggressive bacterial isolates to potato tubers of the susceptible cultivar Irys at a temperature of 26°C from our previous studies (Wiken Dees et al, 2017) Latour et al (2007), the optimum temperature for Pba pathogenicity is 20°C, as a result of the optimal temperature for efficient production of lytic enzymes in Pba of between 12°C and 24°C and the optimal temperatures for growth of between 26°C and 27°C. The lower production of PCWDEs at higher temperatures may be partly compensated by increasing population size because of higher MF.…”

“…The goal of this study was to determine the optimal temperature range between 18°C and 30°C (representing the soil temperature during the vegetation period) for disease development in potato tubers and to identify the association between disease development and the in vitro growth rate of three species of bacteria, Pba, Pcc and Dsol. These species differ in the range of their optimal growth temperatures and are highly aggressive to potato tubers (Wiken Dees et al, 2017). Each of the species was represented by three isolates.…”

“…Blackleg and soft rot of potato cause heavy losses of potato production and always occur in the field as well as during storage and transportation. Soft rot of tubers has been shown to be initiated at the stolon end, wounds or through lenticels (Dees et al, ). The symptoms of soft rot and blackleg disease are curled upper leaves, compact foliage, stunting and leaves fading from green to yellow‐green followed by blackleg symptoms on lower stems.…”
