Characterization of damping in 3D metal printed gear body using parameter optimization

Abstract: With the rapid development of the global economy and the widespread use of high-speed machinery, vibration and noise pollution is becoming increasingly serious. The increased energy costs, environmental pollution, and carbon emissions have prioritized sustainable development for industry. As an important link of mechanical transmission, the gear transmission vibration and noise adversely affect the physical and mental health of operators and interfere with the normal use of machinery. This paper proposes a new… Show more

“…The gear excitation response experiment bench to determine the lightweight gear damping characterization was constructed in a previous damping study [39][40]. The experiment measuring equipment consisted of a force sensor and a non-rotating torque sensor supplied by CAS company; NATIONAL INSTRUMENTS company's data acquisition instrument and analysis software; permanent magnet vibration exciter and power amplifier from Brüel & Kjaer company; and Agilent Technologies company's arbitrary waveform generator; the Sorensen XEL 30-3DP Dual Programmable DC Power Supply from AMETEK incorporated company; some annular Kapton film flexible heaters with the K-type digital thermometer.…”
