“…The range and mean of values of the Delmarva are broadly comparable to those from a study of salt marsh surface sediments of Barnegat Bay-Little Egg Harbor Estuary, New Jersey, where ΣPAH18 was 37-1696 µg/kg with a mean value of 671µg/kg (Vane et al, 2008). The Delmarva ΣPAH18 are also comparable with those reported for contaminants in surface sediments taken from the mudflats of the Mullica River, New Jersey, that has been relatively unaffected by industrial and urban influences (Iannuzzi et al, 2005), where ΣPAH25 concentrations were 436-1380 µg/kg with a mean of 786 µg/kg.
