“…2b, from which more detailed information about pectin in CSC could be obtained. Absorbances in this region are associated with C=O stretch (1,745 cm -1 ) for pectic acid; C=O stretching (1,745 cm -1 ), O-CH 3 stretching (1,445 cm -1 ), and -CH 3 distortion (1,234 cm -1 ) for pectic ester; and COO -asymmetric stretch (1,614 cm -1 ) and symmetric stretch vibration (1,425 cm -1 ) for calcium pectate (Chung et al 2004;Wang et al 2006;Sene et al 1994). Cellulose is the main component in cotton seed epidermis cell wall (Reeves and Valle 1932).…”

“…Characteristic bands related to the chemical structure of cellulose were the hydrogen bonded OH stretching at 3550-3100 cm 1 , the CH stretching at 2900 cm 1 , and the CH wagging at 1315 cm 1 [18][19][20]. FTIR-ATR spectra of all untreated and treated fabrics showed these bands but there were some distinct peaks at 2943 cm 1 , 1737 cm 1 , C-H stretching region at 2800-3000 cm 1 was related with the amount of waxes left on the fabric.…”

“…Afterwards, the fabric samples were further washed with a 2 g L -1 NaOH solution for 90 min at 98°C. Finally, the samples were washed in distilled water and dried at 105°C overnight (Wang et al 2006). …”
