Characterization of a supersonic gas jet for charged particle beam profile monitor

Abstract: A novel beam profile monitor was developed for high intensity, high power charged particle beams. A key feature for such monitor is the usage of a supersonic gas jet. The effectiveness and resolution of such a monitor depends on the jet density and its distribution. In this paper, we introduced a new measurement method and implement a device to characterize the supersonic gas jet with a wider density range.
