Characterization of a dual‐wavelength erbium‐doped fiber laser with overlapping cavity incorporating chirped fiber bragg grating as whole reflecting mirror

Abstract: A new and simple dual‐wavelength erbium doped fiber laser (EDFL) in long band is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. Chirped fiber Bragg gratings (CFBGs) as optical reflecting mirror‐are deployed with 10 nm nominal wavelength spacing. The combined signal of two reflections initialize lasing process. Dual wavelength lasing at room temperature is achieved at input power of 40 mW. Signal reaches to maximum value of 6.40 dBm at pump power of 80 mW where the signal diversity is 1.21 dB.
