Characterization and Electromagnetic Studies on NiZn and NiCuZn Ferrites Prepared by Microwave Sintering Technique

Abstract: The low-temperature sintered NiZn and NiCuZn ferrites with the composition of Ni0.40Zn0.60Fe2O4 and Ni0.35Cu0.05Zn0.60 Fe2O4 were respectively synthesized by the microwave sintering method. These powders were calcined, compacted and sintered at 950℃ for 30 min. X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns of the sample… Show more

“…During the past decade, several approaches have been explored to tailor the magnetic properties of NiCuZn or NiZn ferrites and to lower their sintering temperatures, including using a variety of synthesis methods [6][7][8] and sintering conditions [9][10][11], adding dopants, such as SiO 2 , Bi 2 O 3 , La 2 O 3 , CoO, TiO 2 and MnO 2 [1,6,[12][13][14][15][16], and utilizing sintering aids, such as V 2 O 3 , Bi 2 O 3 and CaO-B 2 O 3 -SiO 2 [16][17][18]. These approaches have been mainly aimed at inducing changes in the densification mechanism of the ferrites so as to manipulate their microstructural evolution and grain boundary properties.…”

“…They can be used as inductors, particularly as Multilayer Chip Inductor (MLCI), transformer core, recording heads and storage devices and in diagnosis purposes [1] [2] [3]. They are also attractive in research and technology for their high magnetic permeability, low magnetic losses, lower cost and easy manufacturing process and for superior magnetization properties [4] [5].…”
