The present study was undertaken to find out the sheer distribution of physico-chemical characteristics of Dubahar block soils of district Ballia, Uttar Pradesh. To do so depth wise soil samples from two profiles were collected from villages Nagva (Pedon -1) and Dubahar (Pedon -2) (one profile from each village). Standard analysis methods were followed for the analysis of the physico-chemical characteristics of the soils. Results revealed that the pH of the soils was found to be moderately acidic to slightly alkaline (6.3 to 7.7) in reaction whereas soil EC was found to be in normal range (0.889 to 1.017). Soil organic carbon content varied between low to high range (0.23 to 0.90%) whereas calcium carbonate content was recorded (0.27 to 2.92%). The available N, P, K, and S content in soil varied from (169.6 to 291.7 kg ha -1 ), (6.23 to 15.28 kg ha -1 ), (324.8 to 548.6 kg ha -1 ) and (5.0 to 21.2 mg kg -1 ), respectively. The bulk density of soil ranged between (1.44 to 1.58 Mg m -³) and water holding capacity (30.0 to 37.8%). The textural class of the soil was found to be clayey to clay loamy.

The goal of the current investigation was to evaluate the state of DTPA-extractable cationic micronutrients (Zn, Fe, Mn, and Cu) concerning some properties of soils of Bankura district, West Bengal. Ninety-nine soil samples in all (0-15 cm) were collected from 9 blocks (viz., Bankura II, Onda, Bisnupur, Barjora, Raipur, Sarenga, Bankura I, Gangajalghati, and Chatna) of the Bankura district of West Bengal. Using standard analytical techniques, these soil samples were examined for a variety of soil parameters, including DTPA-extractable Zn, Fe, Mn, and Cu, pH, electrical conductivity (EC), oxidizable organic carbon (OC) content, and particle size distribution. The research area's soil is characterized by sandy clay loam to sandy loam in texture, with few samples having loamy sand texture and strongly acidic to neutral in reaction. The EC was found to be very low (<1.0 dSm-1), indicating the safe limit for soils whereas the value of OC was low to medium. The status of DTPA-extractable Zn ranged between 0.45 to 3.47 mg kg-1 which was deficient to sufficient in category. The DTPA-extractable Fe, Mn, and Cu showed variation from 6.52 to 56.27, 4.73 to 26.81, and 0.51 to 5.29 mg kg-1, respectively which were in a higher range. Soil pH showed a substantial positive correlation with available Zn and Mn contents in soil but not with Cu and Fe. Organic carbon correlated significantly and positively with available Fe whereas non-significantly with available Zn and Mn.

Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) is the most popular oilseed crop in India. This is known as Peanut, Earthnut, Monkey nut, Goober panda and Manilanut and contains about 45 percent oil and 26 percent protein. Groundnut kernels as a whole are highly digestible. One gram of kernel supplies 5.8 calories of food. This is compared with four calories per gram of sugar, 3.5 calories for whole wheat and 2.6 calories of bread. The biological value of groundnut protein is among the highest of the vegetable proteins and equal to that of casein.
