Abstract:In this paper, we discuss the possibility of making geophysical measurements using the large-scale laser interferometrical gravitational wave antenna. An interferometer with suspended mirrors can be used as a gradiometer measuring variations of an angle between gravity force vectors acting on the spatially separated suspensions. We analyse the restrictions imposed by the atmospheric noises on the feasibility of such measurements. Two models of the atmosphere are invoked: a quiet atmosphere with a hydrostatic c… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
