“…The sample air flow rate was 16.7 L min −1 (1 atm, 25 • C). Under these conditions, the aerodynamic diameter of the 50 % cutoff for the nucleopore filter was approximately 1.9 µm (John et al, 1983). The samples were analyzed by ion chromatography (IC).…”

“…In our work, distinction between coarse and fine particles is operationally defined using stack filter units (SFU) samplers working at 1 m 3 h −1 with two filters of different pore size used as follows: Nuclepore 8.0 µm filters collect particles with aerodynamic diameters higher than 2 µm, while downstream 0.4 µm filters collect particles smaller than 2 µm (John et al, 1983). In order to maintain the cutoff and the analysis reliability, sampling duration is adapted to obtain aerosol loadings <500 µg/filter.…”

“…In the present work the fine particle fraction was collected on a 0.2-pm, and coarse particles on an 8.0-pm apiezon-greased Nuclepore filter. The flow rate was set to 4.3 L/min and collection time to 8 h. The face velocity on the first filter was kept at 30 cm/s, which gives the size cutoff at around 1.5 pm (John et al, 1983). Two parallel collectors were used in each measurement position and indoor and outdoor measurements were carried out simultaneously.…”
