Characteristics of menstrual cycle disorder and saliva metabolomics of young women in a high-temperature environment

Abstract: Objective: Menstrual disorders induced by high-temperature environments, can seriously damage women’s reproductive health and workability. The regulation mechanism underlying it is not yet to be elucidated. Saliva is an information-rich biological fluid that can reflect systemic diseases. Here, we investigated the characteristics of menstrual cycle disorders and saliva metabolomics to provide a deeper insight of the regulation mechanism of young women in high-temperature environments. Methods: Women from high a… Show more

“…This variability is influenced by numerous factors, such as the activities of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, medication usage, circadian rhythms, and physical exercise (17)(18)(19). Moreover, while some research presents conflicting findings, evidence suggests that hormonal fluctuations associated with puberty, pregnancy, menstrual cycles, and related disorders may also affect these biomarker levels (16,(20)(21)(22)(23).…”

“…Available in the literature are several previous reports examining SA and sialidase in the saliva and blood samples amongst patients of different ages [11][12][13] including those stratified by their health status [14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21]. These studies have utilized several analytical approaches for SA analysis [12,[14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22]. Whereas these previous investigations report salivary SA levels, the results are from one sampling event and do not report evaluations over time.…”
