Abstract:A study on grinding of 2124 Al/SiC p (15% SiC p ) metal matrix composite material with conventional and ELID grindings uses various current duty ratio. Normal forces and tangential forces are monitored. Surface roughness and Vickers hardness numbers are measured. When the results are compared ELID grinding shows less grinding forces due to the breakage of the insulating layer formed on the grinding wheel. A smoother surface can be obtained using a high current duty ratio. Vickers hardness number is reduced whe… Show more
“…This process repeats but the tendency of the normal and tangential forces is increased [46]. When the normal force starts to decrease after it reaches the peak point, an immediate increase of the tangential force occurs because of the breakage of the oxide layer.…”

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
