Characteristics of a Novel Solar Dish System

Abstract: The advantages and disadvantages of the current solar thermal power systems are discussed and a novel solar dish system is proposed. A secondary reflector is used to make the concentrated solar beams on the ground instead of on the top of the basic dish. It is convenient to arrange the Stirling engine and heat storage. This design is verified by ASAP software, and the results show that the focal plane moves from designed -350 mm to -320 mm and the average heat flux on the absorber is about 1880 suns and the op… Show more

“…The characteristics of the solar energy are environment benign, free and abundant. Moreover, Zhang et al [5] have also addressed that the solar power technology is one type power generation of the most promising and fastest growing in the industry. Solar powered pumping systems are generally more reliable and require less maintenance compared to wind powered pumping system.…”
