Characteristics and Seasonal Variation of Sediments in Lake Junttiselkä, Pyhäsalmi, Finland

Abstract: Lake Junttiselkä, located in central Finland, has been loaded by effluents from Pyhäsalmi Zn-Cu mine since 1962 and also receives Pyhäsalmi municipal effluent. A total of 32 top sediment samples (0-2, 2-4, and 4-6 cm) were collected in October 2005 and March 2006 to examine the seasonal variation in sediment composition.
