Characterisation of phenolic compounds by UPLC‐QTOF‐MS/MS of geopropolis from the stingless bee Melipona subnitida (jandaíra)

Abstract: The geopropolis of jandaíra showed phenolic compounds galloyl hexosides, ellagic acid, acyl-(cinnamoyl/coumaroyl)-hexosides, acyl-(cinnamoyl/coumaroyl)-galloyl-hexosides and flavonoids (aglycones and acylated-O-glycosides).

“…The analyzes were obtained in XEVO-G2XSQTOF mass spectrometer (Waters, Manchester, UK) which was connected to an ACQUITY UPLC system (Waters, Milford, MA, USA). The conditions for obtaining the data by UPLC-ESI-qTOF-MS/MS were according to Souza et al (2018).…”

“…In addition to flavonoids, the extract showed the phenolic compounds galloyl hexosides (1, 2, 4, 8, and 12), ellagic acid (35), acyl-(cinnamoyl/coumaroyl)-hexosides (5, 6, 7, 18, 24, 31, 32, and 46), acyl-(cinnamoyl/coumaroyl)-galloyl-hexosides (10, 11, 13, 14, 17, 19, 20, 21, 17, 28, and 47). Some compounds, i.e., 6-O-p-coumaroyl-β-D-galactopyranose (31), 6- O -p-coumaroyl-α -D-galactopyranose (6), 6-O -pcoumaroyl-β-D-galactopyranose (7), 1-O-p-coumaroyl-6-Ocinnamoyl-β-D-glucopyranose (21), 3-O-methyl quercetin (33), naringenin (35), 7-O-methyl aromadendrin (42), and 7-O-methyl naringenin (53) were previously identified in jandaíra geopropolis collected in another region of Northeastern Brazil (Souza et al 2013(Souza et al , 2018. This result suggests that M. subnitida bees have a specific foraging behavior, even in an environment with such a rich diversity as in the Northeastern Brazil semiarid region (Silva et al 2006) (Santos et al 2017).…”

“…Prenylated benzophenone and cinnamic acid esters were detected in the geopropolis from Melipona scutellaris Latreille, indicating that a genus of the Clusiaceae family, especially Kielmeyera and Clusia, could be the resin sources of this geopropolis (Cunha et al, 2016). The phenylpropanoids, 6-O-p-coumaroyl-D-galactopyranose and 6-O-cinnamoyl-1-O-p-coumaroylβ -D-glucopyranose, and flavonoids were detected in the geopropolis from Melipona subnitida Ducke (jandaíra), a stingless bee native to northeastern Brazil (Souza et al, 2013(Souza et al, , 2018.…”
