Abstract:Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli O157: H7 (STEC) is a zoonotic pathogen that is globally dispersed, causing severe gastroenteritis when transmitted from ruminants to humans through direct or indirect contact with animals, their environment or contaminated food.
