Some assemblages include handaxes, such as La Cotte de St Brelade (level 5; Callow and Cornford, 1986), Pucheuil (A/C; Delagnes and Ropars, 1996), Gentelles (upper levels; Tuffreau et al, 2008), and Osiers à Bapaume (Tuffreau, 1976;Koelher, 2008), while at other sites there is a complete absence of this technology such as Maastricht-Belvedere (Roebroeks et al, 1992;De Loecker, 2006), Biache-Saint-Vaast (Boëda, 1986), and Therdonne (Hérisson, 2007). The flake tool assemblages also vary, but most consist of marginally retouched denticulates, notches, and scrapers with little difference from preceding periods.…”
