Changing the name of a syndrome: sympathetic neural hyperalgesia edema syndrome becomes – the increased cellular permeability syndrome

Abstract: I wrote an editorial entitled "Sympathomimetic amines are a safe, highly effective therapy for several female chronic disorders that do not respond well to conventional therapy" [1]. Since we have written a large number of case reports and a previous editorial on treating pelvic pain, hopefully some of our readers have tried this therapy even before the last editorial. If not, from these past case report studies, hopefully the last editorial has convinced you to try this therapy for a variety of female disorde… Show more

“…The increased cellular permeability syndrome is the etiologic factor for a wide variety of chronic conditions that are refractory to standard therapies that have in common very good improvement following treatment with dextroamphetamine sulfate [15,16]. The conditions that improve include pelvic pain of various types, with or without the presence of endometriosis, and migraine headaches, chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia (as seen in the patient described), neuromuscular disorders, bowel motility disorders (e.g., achalasia, gastroparesis, or pseudointestinal obstruction), chronic urticaria, arthritis, and chronic regional pain syndrome.…”

“…Dextroamphetamine sulfate is believed to improve the various manifestations of this syndrome by releasing dopamine from sympathetic nerve fibers. One of the functions of dopamine is to decrease cellular permeability [15,16].…”

“…A condition has been described related to increased cellular permeability leading to a variety of medical conditions related to an inflammatory response to unwanted absorption of toxic elements, or muscle dysfunction related to toxic chemicals disrupting skeletal and/or small muscle function [1][2][3]. This condition was previously referred to as the sympathetic neural hyperalgesia edema syndrome, but is now called the increased cellular permeability syndrome, and it is more common in women [4]. This condition may have an adverse effect on fecundity by causing a constant inflammatory state, and thus the presence of an increased cellular immune response past the normal six-days postovulation, making it more difficult for progesterone to stimulate a sufficient amount of immunomodulatory proteins to negate these white blood cells (especially natural killer cells) from causing immune rejection of the fetal semi-allograft [5][6][7][8][9].…”
