Changes of the Surface Texture after Surface Treatment HS6-5-2-5 Steel

Abstract: Texture of the surface is very important in process reproduction of the components. Not only in engineering area, but also in other industrial sectors, the assessment of the surface texture ranks among basic techniques of the determining the surface properties of the component. Pretreatment of the surface can reduce running costs in the case of coating on the tools. The paper describes the changes of the surface textures of the HS6-5-2-5 steel CSN EN ISO 4957 with different technological treatments of the subs… Show more

“…For steel H13, the surface roughness values were 50% to 70% higher than the UN material. Such deterioration is caused by a dedusting process, when the nitride cations bombard a material surface and subsequently atoms of various elements, being on a material surface are shot out [ 24 ]. The surface roughness of the coatings on steel HS6-5-2 was 245 percent to 295 percent higher than the UN material.…”

“…In many cases, we are not able to select a perfect material that exactly meets our requirements. The technology of material development seems to be very expensive, therefore it is more effective and cheaper to use the available material with a combination of appropriate surface technologies [5]. Due to combined stresses, high pressure and also the abrasion, which must resist, the engine's crankshaft and the barrel of the small arm weapon have been chosen as referential parts [6,7].…”

“…Dimensional and shape changes depend on many factors. These are material factors, such as the state after casting and homogeneity, the state after annealing (grain size) and also hardenability, as well as structural factors (18). Various requirements are placed on the design of the component, which cannot always be taken into account in the design in terms of low deformation behavior.…”
