Abstract: The aim of this study was to improve knowledge regarding pregnant couples by assessing changes in their sexual behavior, the reasons for the frequency and forms of intercourse, and the self-sexuality of partners in each trimester of pregnancy. “…The SI frequency tended to be lower in East Asia, and 34% in this study was the lowest. There were two trends in the change in the SI frequency during pregnancy: 4 studies showed a decrease from the rst to the second trimester (29,31,33,35), and 4 studies showed an increase from the rst to the second trimester and a decrease in the third trimester (30,34,37,39). In the present study, the frequency was not investigated in the rst trimester, but decreased from the rst to the second trimester as previously reported.…”

“…Also, a study by Kulhawik et al on changes in sexual behaviour in particular trimesters of pregnancy, conducted among 100 couples, showed a statistically significant decrease in sexual intercourse from the first trimester of pregnancy. This study showed that the frequency of masturbation increased in men and decreased in women [23]. Also, in the study by Branecka-Woźniak et al, as many as 89.50% of pregnant women denied that the frequency of intercourse increased during pregnancy.…”

“…A study by Khalesi found the female body is forced to start using muscles rarely used before pregnancy because of an increase in both belly volume and fetal weight, which might result in lumbar discomfort [ 30 ]. Additionally, pregnancy tends to make sexual relationships less appealing for women because of weariness, worry, and the natural fear they have as labor approaches as well as the non-erotic influence of the woman's appearance near the end of pregnancy, are other factors that contribute to the decline in female sexual function [ 31 ].…”
