“…Previous investigations of weak PMF actions on lipids in onion leaves [Novitskaya et al, 2006], in seedlings [Novitskaya et al, 2010;Novitskii et al, 2014a], leaves of mature plants [Novitskaya et al, 2008], and seeds of radish plants [Novitskii et al, 2011[Novitskii et al, , 2014b showed that PMF also changed composition and content of lipids in membranes of chloroplasts, mitochondria, and cytoplasm. Therefore, influence of weak PMF on composition and content of lipids in all three crops represents a common regularity.…”

“…Firstly, it is known that PMF changes composition and content of membrane lipids [Piruzyan and Aristarkhov, 2004;Novitskaya et al, 2008] by involvement of radical pairs, activation, or inhibition of lipid peroxidation.…”

“…Radicula D.C.) cultivar Rozovo krasnyi s belym konchikom were grown for 3.5 months until seed maturation in AprilJuly 2008 and 2009 in the greenhouse of the Institute of Plant Physiology, Russian Academy of Sciences, under exposure to a weak horizontal PMF with a strength of ~400 A/m. Permanent magnetic field was created by Helm holtz coils [11] fed by a direct current. The control plants were grown in Helmholtz coils through which no current was passed.…”

“…It was shown that the synthesis of polar lipids in germinating radish seedlings exposed to PMF was inhibited in the light but stimulated in the dark [10]. PMF differentially affected the composition and content of lipids in adult plants of radish as a function of their affiliation to a particular magnetically oriented type (MOT) on the basis of orientation of the plane of root groovesalong the magnetic meridian (the north south mag netically oriented type (NS MOT)) and perpendicu lar to the magnetic meridian (the west east magneti cally oriented type (WE MOT)) [11]. Under exposure to PMF, the total lipid content in radish leaves in spring decreased in the NS MOT but increased in the WE MOT.…”
