“…The supramolecular organization of asphaltenes was investigated via high-resolution scanning and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray diffraction phase analysis. The use of these methods provides information on the spatial organization of asphaltene macromolecules and on the geometric dimensions and quantitative content of quasicrystalline stacks in their structure. ,, An important analytical tool for studying the molecular level of the structural organization of asphaltenes is a method of proton magnetic resonance spectrometry ( 1 H NMR), which makes it possible to determine the main parameters of the distribution of hydrogen atoms in various structural fragments of their molecules. ,, The results of 1 H NMR spectral integration in combination with other initial data (measured values of average molecular masses (MMs), elemental composition data) form the basis of methods for structural-group analysis (SGA) of heavy oil components. The SGA method makes it possible to estimate the overall sizes and degree of aromaticity of resin and asphaltene molecules and to determine the number of aromatic and naphthenic rings in their naphthenoaromatic system and the average number of carbon atoms in the side alkyl substituents. , The resins were analyzed by SGA, while for the analysis of the low polar components, the method of gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) was used as the most informative method for determining the molar composition of oil systems. …”

“…In work [4], ecological and physico-chemical aspects of the processes of thermal processing of acid tar into road bitumen are considered. In [5], the transformations of resins and asphaltenes of different chemical composition of heavy oils during primary processing are studied using the example of the Usinsk (Komi Republic, Russia) and Zuunbayansky (Mongolia) fields. Using the data of elemental composition, molecular weight, and PMR spectroscopy, the structural and group parameters of the resin and asphaltene molecules of the initial oils and oil residues (fuel oil) obtained by atmospheric distillation with the selection of NC-350°fractions were determined.…”
