Change of ATP binding cassette transporter A1 and liver X receptor α expression in diabetic minipig skeletal muscle Change of LXRα/ABCA1 pathway in diabetic skeletal muscle
Abstract:Abnormal high density lipoprotein (HDL) metabolism may contribute to the increased atherosclerosis associated with diabetes and insulin resistance. Cellular cholesterol efflux involves the interaction of HDL with specific receptors, such as ATPbinding cassette transporter A1 (ABCA1). Glucose may regulate ABCA1 and liver X receptor (LXR) at the transcriptional level. We examined the change of ABCA1 and LXR expression in diabetic minipig skeletal muscle. Results showed that plasma total cholesterol, triglyceride… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
