“…On the other hand, the female farmers were relatively more involved in sowing (male mean = 2.90, female mean = 2.97), weeding (male mean = 2.85, female mean = 2.88), storage (male mean = 2.58, female mean = 2.63) and fertilizer application (male mean = 1.13, female mean = 1.15). The result corroborates with the findings of that Nigerian women play major roles in key farming operations such as planting, weeding and harvesting [25].…”

“…The unavailability of credit ranked 1 st with a MPS of 78.53 percent with about 54 percent of the rural women considering this as extremely serious while the menace of cattle invasion ranked 2nd with a mean value of 3.28. These findings are similar to those of Fabiyi et al (2007); Adedayo and Tunde (2013) which noted that unavailability of credit and cattle invasion were also among constraints rural women encounter. Poor transportation, high cost of labour and inadequate input were the major perceived constraints that were considered to be severe, probably as a result of government not paying adequate attention to the state of infrastructure and availability of resources.…”

“…Limited capital was identified by 113 out of 402 farmers as a major constraint, with a percentage of 28.11%, this challenge had the highest frequency and could be attributed to the high cost of implementing and maintaining certain innovations such as greenhouses. The finding is consistent with [19] of the high cost of some forms of innovations and it is usually difficult for farmers to adopt such innovations without support from the government, nongovernmental organizations, partners, and investors. These three challenges constitute the major challenges faced by farmers in Bamenda City, with some of them experiencing all or both (for example limited capital and limited knowledge 9.2%, financial constraints and limited capital 7.96% etc.)…”
