Mobile applications are continuously increasing in prevalence. One of the main challenges in mobile application development is creating cross-platform applications. To facilitate developing cross-platform applications, the software engineering community created several solutions, one of which is React Native (RN), which is a popular cross-platform framework. The software engineering literature demonstrated the effectiveness of Stack Overflow (SO) in providing real-world perspectives on a variety of technical subjects. Therefore, this study aims to gain a better understanding of the stance of RN on SO. We identified and analyzed 131,620 SO RN-related questions. Moreover, we observed how the interest toward RN on SO evolves over time. Additionally, we utilized Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) to identify RN-related topics that are discussed within the questions. Afterward, we utilized a number of proxy measures to estimate the popularity and difficulty of these topics. The results revealed that interest toward RN on SO was generally increasing. Moreover, RN-related questions revolve around six topics, with the topics of layout and navigation being the most popular and the topic of iOS issues being the most difficult. Software engineering researchers, practitioners, educators, and RN contributors may find the results of this study beneficial in guiding their future RN efforts.

Nowadays, mobile learning utilizing mobile applications has become widely adopted due to its flexibility and the numerous benefits it offers. However, the availability of mobile apps in education especially for assessment is limited and still an emerging topic despite the affirmation of its positive impact on students’ learning outcomes and motivation. The complexity of the mobile application development process, which includes requirement elicitation, modeling, designing, developing, testing, and evaluating, could be a contributing factor to this issue. This study aimed to propose a guideline for designing and developing an educational mobile application through the development of an application named IsMind that focuses on formative assessment. Evolutionary Prototyping, a methodology under the agile approach of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) was deployed to meet the educational application requirement by integrating content, pedagogy, and technology aspects to provide better teaching and learning material. The activities within each phase of evolutionary prototyping including the models, tools, techniques, and deliverables were discussed extensively. The analysis and design phase were done using an object-oriented approach with appropriate models (diagrams) to present the functional requirement of the mobile application. Various CASE tools which accelerated the development process in various stages of software development were explained.UMLet software was employed to create a use case diagram, activity diagram, and sequence diagram. The user interface design, which followed The Eight Golden Rules of Interface, was developed utilizing Marvel software. Adobe Photoshop CS6, Adobe Illustrator CS6, Unity 3D, and Microsoft Visual Studio Code (C#) were utilized in the development process. The mobile application provides a variety of question types, such as Drag And Drop, Multiple Choice, Numbering, True And False, Matching, and Puzzle. The evaluation of IsMind indicated its appropriateness as an interactive teaching and learning media for assessment. The proposed steps for constructing this assessment educational mobile app. The proposed methodology consists of the details of phases, various activities within each phase, techniques, models, and tools for each activity as well as deliverables of each phase offer a helpful guideline for anyone interested in developing a similar application.

Mobile application (app) development is a subset of software development distinguished by a short development life cycle, rapidly changing business requirements, mobile device technical specifications, and operating system compatibility. The study presents a V-model mobile app development technique that combines two fuzzy quality function deployment (FQFD) phases. In mobile app development, user requirements are often misunderstood, resulting in poor mobile app design. The research motivation for employing FQFD is to obtain more accurate deductions of human (user or design team) inputs affected by intrinsic vagueness and ambiguity in linguistics. The combination hence delivers synergistic benefits, where FQFDs more effectively solicits and breaks down the voice of the customer (VOC) and system requirements, and the V-model aligns the development to the broken-down requirements. The development of an online statistical process control app was demonstrated. FQFD structurally related user requirements, system requirements, and design strategies in the V-model's verification phases. The validation phases used test plans created during the verification phases to detect and correct programming errors. In the final validation stage, the focus group agreed that the mobile app met all of the user requirements. This study adds to the methodology's novelty by proposing and demonstrating the integration of the FQFD and V-model into the development of mobile apps. As a result of the limitation, other areas of software engineering, such as time and resource coordination and release management, are not considered.
