Li 3 Sb 11 S 18 was synthesized by a solid-state reaction of stoichiometric amounts of Li 2 S and Sb 2 S 3 . The crystal structure was determined from dark-gray single crystals at 123 K. Li 3 Sb 11 S 18 crystallizes in the triclinic space group P 1 with a = 8.871(1) Å , b = 11.993(1) Å , c = 15.407(1) Å , a = 80.014(5)°, b = 73.599(5)°, c = 77.443( 5)°, V = 1523.9(2) Å 3 , and Z = 2 (data at 123 K). Both metals have a distorted octahedral coordination by sulfur. These octahedra are arranged in two different types of alternating layers. Strands of trans edge sharing octahedra LiS 6 and octahedra SbS 6 form heterocubane units LiSb 3 S 4 , which are condensed to a rock salt type layer one. Layer two consists mainly of SbS 6 -units also packed in a rock salt motif. Some of the antimony atoms are replaced by lithium in a systematic way. In total, a deficient rock salt type structure results for Li 3 Sb 11 S 18 .

monoclinic, space group P21, Z = 2), (IX) (orthorhombic, Pna21, Z = 4), and the Sb V compound (V) (P1, Z = 1) are determined by single crystal XRD. The compounds contain discrete cationic [Zn(NH3)4] 2+ , [Zn(NH3)6] 2+ , and [Mn(NH3)6] 2+ ammonia complexes. In the anionic structure corner-connected trigonal-pyramidal SbS 3 and SbSe 3 are the characteristic building units. (I) and (VII) contain two-dimensional polymeric anions, in the latter with Zn 2+ cations incorporated in a selenidoantimonate(III) network. The polymeric anion in (IX) is a helical chain while (V) is a molecular compound and contains dinuclear anions [S3Sb-S-Zn(NH3)3] 2-.
