Chains of metallic nanoparticles embedded in a gain medium as ideal plasmonic waveguides

Abstract: Gain-assisted propagation of surface plasmon-polaritons along chains of metallic nanoparticles is studied with the coupled-dipole method, the validity of which is justified using finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) simulations.
