CFD flow analysis in the centrifugal vortex pump

Abstract: Purpose – Aging of the oil wells leads to a decrease in reservoir pressure and also to an increase in the water, gas and abrasive particles content. Therefore, there is a need for the oil pumps exploitation characteristics improvements. This paper aims to generate a valuable numerical model which will provide a useful tool to study various cases. Design/methodology/approach – Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis of the generation … Show more

“…The inlet of the rectangular domain was positioned 2L upstream of the EV profile, the ground is 12L long and is 0.065L from the front wheel axis position, as discussed in [1]. The mesh size was variable, from the smallest elements near the vehicle body to the biggest further away from it, providing y + between 30 and 90, as discussed in [2]. Turbulence was simulated by two RANS models: the realizable k-ε two-layer model, and SST k-ω model, as described in [2] and [3].…”

“…For the pump working under the operating condition of IGVF in the range of 30 to 50 per cent, the first three stages should be designed separately. Other general aspects were also considered (Wang et al ., 2015; Mihalić et al ., 2014; Quail et al ., 2011; Bilus and Predin, 2009; Mu et al ., 2016).…”
