Human is an entity that can be completed with the combination of biological, psychological and social factors. The concept of health is defined as being in a state of complete mental, social and physical well-being. The term "community mental health" defines mental health care in relation to the individual and the environment in which the individual interacts. If the factors affecting mental health are known and intervened, it is predicted that community mental health will make positive progress. The aim of this study is to examine and compare the factors affecting community mental health by analysing community mental health data in Türkiye and Europe. The World Health Organisation (WHO) examines these factors in three groups as individual, family and community and structural factors. In order to analyse the degree to which these factors affect mental health, data from Türkiye and Europe were analysed by examining the reports of the World Health Organization, European Commission, European Parliament, OECD, Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation and Turkish Statistical Institute. It is seen that community mental health is affected by the community's understanding of health and illness, access to mental health services, gender, age, education, the concept of loneliness, unemployment, diseases affecting the world such as pandemics and the economy. As a result of mental health reports and analyses, not much difference was observed between the factors affecting public mental health in Türkiye and Europe. In general, it is seen that there are country-based evaluations in mental health data. Differences between countries are generally interpreted with the development levels of countries. However, cultural differences between countries are not emphasised. For an accurate comparison, multicentre studies should be conducted involving researchers from different countries who know the culture of the society.

AimThis study aimed to examine nursing students’ self‐esteem levels and attitudes toward the nursing profession.BackgroundAlthough it is important to choose a profession that will make the person happy in many aspects such as one's abilities, interests, values, attitudes, personal goals, and social expectations, it has an important place, especially in a profession such as nursing, which involves intense emotional and physical load.MethodsThe study population was 390 nursing students at a foundation university in Istanbul, while the sample included 202 students. Data were collected between January 16, 2023, and February 15, 2023, with the Demographic Data Collection Tool, Coopersmith Self‐Esteem Inventory, and the Attitude Scale for Nursing Profession. The data were analyzed using the SPSS 27.0 program. The STROBE checklist was used to report the study.ResultsThe mean age of the participants was 20.79 ± 1.72 (years), among which 65.3% were in the 20–22 age range, 76.7% were female, and 29.7% were in the first grade. A positive but very weak relationship was found between the Coopersmith Self‐Esteem Inventory and the Attitude Scale for Nursing Profession scores (p < 0.05).ConclusionThe results show that professionalization and socialization processes greatly affect nursing students’ self‐esteem. Considering the extended period that students spend in academic institutions under the guidance of faculty members, this matter deserves greater attention.Implications for nursingWhile developing the curriculum and education process, factors that support the development of self‐esteem in nursing students should be taken into account and initiatives should be planned to increase positive attitudes toward the profession. Nursing students can gain different perspectives by spending more time with nurses in hospitals.

Giriş: Bireylerin, kendi ülkelerinde yaşadıkları ekonomik sıkıntılar, savaş, yoksulluk, siyasi baskılar, hastalıklar, eğitim olanakları gibi çeşitli etmenler onları göçe sevk etmektedir. Göç olgusu ruh sağlığı açısından çok önemlidir. Yeni bir ülkeye alışma, kültür çatışması, sağlık sorunlarıyla ilgilenememe, çocukların eğitim ile ilgili sorunları, beslenme ve barınma gibi sorunlar göçmenlerde çeşitli ruhsal sorunlara yol açmaktadır. Travma sonrası stres bozukluğu yaşayan bazı göçmenlerde buna ek olarak majör depresyon ve anksiyete bozukluğu yaşadıkları görülmüştür. Amaç: Göç eden bireylerin yaşadıkları ruhsal sorunlar ve buna yönelik baş etme yöntemleri araştırıldıktan sonra, oluşan veya oluşabilecek riskler bağlamına ruh sağlığı hemşiresinin göçmenlere yönelik toplumsal hizmetlerini tanımlamaktır. Gelişme: Göçmenlerde oluşabilecek riskler incelendiğinde; kadın ve çocuk göçmenlerin göç sebepleri, savaş, kıtlık vb. gibi durumlar olarak görülmekteyken, erkek göçmenlerin göç sebepleri arasında daha çok, iş imkanı, barınma ve beslenme olanaklarının yetersizliği gibi durumlar sayılabilmektedir. Göçmenlerde göç edilen ülkede uyum sağlamada zorluk, damgalanma korkusu, depresyon, kültür farklılıkları, dil problemlerinden ortaya çıkan iletişim sıkıntıları ve buna bağlı olarak kadın ve çocuk göçmenlerin sağlık hizmetlerine ulaşımında zorluklar görülmüştür. Son zamanların ortak sorunu olan pandeminin etkisi ile göçmenlerde olan veya oluşabilecek sorunların artmakta olduğu gözlenmiştir. Bu bağlamda toplum ruh sağlığı hemşirelerinin göçmenlere yönelik hizmetlerinde önemli rolleri bulunmaktadır. Sonuç: Araştırmalar sonucunda göçmenlere yardım edilememesinin en büyük etmeninin iletişim, çevirmenlerin azlığı ve kültür farklılıkları olduğu görülmüştür. Bu derleme makalede göçmenlere yönelik toplum ruh sağlığı hemşireliği hizmetleri okuyucuya aktarılacaktır.
