Cetyltrimethylammonium micelles enhance the sensitivity of ssDNA-based electrochemical sensor for the determination of pyridoxol

Abstract: CTAB surfactant was assembled on ssDNA film electrode by electrostatic attraction between CTAB and ssDNA. The self-assembly of CTAB on ssDNA formed the micellar bilayer. Pyridoxol anions adsorbed on the micellar bilayer resulted in a markedly enhanced sensitivity. Practical applicability can be realized by the direct assay of pharmaceutical samples.

“…Unmodified GC electrodes were used for determining pyridoxine and related compounds in pharmaceutical and urine samples. Glassy carbon was also used as substrate for sensors using ssDNA , chromium(III) hexacyanoferrate(II) , MWCNTs , poly(methylene green) with functionalized CNTs and Au‐CuO/MWCNT as modifiers. Carbon paste electrodes modified with ZnO or ZrO 2 nanoparticles/ionic liquids , crown ethers and polyurethane were also proved useful for the determination of vitamin B 6 in several samples.…”
