Objectives: To determine risk factors of cervical cancer and role of healthcare providers regarding awareness and counseling of PAP-smear. Methods: It was case-control study conducted from Jan-2021 till may-2021 at two tertiary care hospitals of Karachi South. The intended sample size was 255 subjects as 105 cases and 150 controls. The inclusion criteria were diagnosed cases of CA Cervix and under the age of 50 years. Controls were recruited from the general population. All the data were entered into SPSS version 23. The odds ratio was calculated to compare the risks of occurring CA cervix among cases and controls. The relationship of risk factors was assessed by binary logistic regression. P-value < 0.05 was considered as statistically significant. Results: Generally, highly significant p-value (<0.000) was observed; depicted a positive association for a level of education, age at first intercourse, and number of parity in cases of CA cervix and controls (OR=4.3). The correct predicted rate was 68.8% for having CA cervix among controls due to family history, the knowledge of PAP smear screening, ever counseled for a PAP smear, ever tested for a PAP smear, never been tested for PAP smear due to cost. Conclusion: Educational level, age at first intercourse, number of parity was the risk factors of CA cervix. Background: Cervical cancer (CC) is the fourth most commonly diagnosed cancer among women. Ghana is a low-middle-income country with annual diagnosed cases of 3,151 and 2,119 deaths. The high prevalence rate of cervical cancer in Ghana is mainly due to ineffective preventive measures and insufficient knowledge about the disease. Therefore, our objective was to evaluate the level of knowledge and awareness of cervical cancer and attitude toward human papillomavirus and its vaccine among Ghanaians. Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional survey on the awareness of cervical cancer and attitude toward human papillomavirus and its vaccine was carried out from March 2019 to February 2020. SPSS v. 23.0 was used in the data analysis. The participants' demographic characteristics, knowledge of cervical carcinoma, human papillomavirus vaccine and HPV, and the likelihood to be vaccinated were represented as percentages and frequencies. The difference between males and females was assessed using the chi-square test. The logistic regression analysis was used to evaluate the relationship of possible related indicators with the willingness to receive the HPV vaccine. A p < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: A total of 1,376 participants were involved in the final analysis. Among the 1,376 participants involved in this survey, 1,240 participants (90.1%) representing 456 males (33.1%) and 784 females (57.0%) were aware of the terminology "cervical cancer" with a significant p = 0.001. When stratified by gender, women had significantly greater knowledge, compared to men in terms of "cervical cancer being common in middle age (35-50) females" (75.5 vs. 67.5%, respectively, p ≤ 0.001). When stratified by gender, women had significantly greater knowledge of human papillomavirus (54.5 vs. 43.6%, respectively, p < 0.001) and the human papillomavirus vaccine (39.3 vs. 33.1%, respectively, p = 0.019) compared to men. Drokow et al. Human Papillomavirus and Its Vaccine Conclusion: Majority of the respondents had poor knowledge regarding cervical cancer risk factors, symptoms, HPV, and its vaccine. Hence, this indicates a wakeup call for government to increase the awareness and knowledge level via the media and health professionals.

A kind of cervix cancer called cervical cancer arises when the cells in the cervix divide too rapidly. The costs of cervical cancer are considerable for the woman, her family, and society as a whole. Women's attitudes and understanding on cervical cancer screening are the subject of this study. Objective: To determine the Knowledge and attitude towards cervical cancer and its screening among women attending the Gynecology Out Patient Department and to evaluate the factors associated with knowledge and attitude towards cervical cancer and its screening. Methods: This study was carried out using a cross-sectional design. 15 women visiting the Gynaecology OPD were recruited through convenient sampling technique. A structured questionnaire encompassing socio-demographic characteristics, knowledge, and attitudes was utilized to collect data, which was then analyzed using SPSS version-24. Results: According to the study's findings, 65 (43%) of the 122 participants were between the ages of 31 and 40, and 94 (74.7%) were housewives. About 106 (70.7%) of respondents had low understanding of cervical cancer screening, whereas 44 (29.3%) had strong knowledge. The results suggest that respondents' knowledge of cervical cancer screening was significantly related to their education, marital status, occupation, and place of residence. The respondents' attitudes regarding cervical cancer screening were also significantly related to their education, occupation, and place of residence. Conclusions: The study revealed that women visiting the Gynaecology department have insufficient knowledge and attitudes about cervical cancer and screening. There is a need to enhance women's understanding and attitudes towards cervical cancer screening in order to detect and treat the illness early.
