ceRNA Network Analysis Shows That lncRNA CRNDE Promotes Progression of Glioblastoma Through Sponge mir-9-5p

Abstract: Glioblastoma accounts for 45.2% of central nervous system tumors. Despite the availability of multiple treatments (e.g., surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, biological therapy, immunotherapy, and electric field therapy), glioblastoma has a poor prognosis, with a 5-year survival rate of approximately 5%. The pathogenesis and prognostic markers of this cancer are currently unclear. To this end, this study aimed to explore the pathogenesis of glioblastoma and identify potential prognostic markers. We used data f… Show more

“…Wang et al reported that the glioma cells growth and invasion was promoted by over-expression of lncRNA CRNDE, and the lncRNA CRNDE positively correlates with EGFR activation [21]. Luo et al found that lncRNA CRNDE promoted glioblastoma progression through sponge to mir-9-5p [22]. Shi et al reported that lncRNA-CRNDE promoted BMSC chondrogenic differentiation and cartilage repair through SIRT1/SOX9 [23].…”

“…ceRNA can bind to miRNAs through miRNA response elements (MREs) to affect miRNA-induced gene silencing. Recent studies have shown that ceRNA is an important mechanism for the occurrence and development of various CNS disorders ( Moreno-García et al, 2020 ; Luo et al, 2021 ). Interaction with target sites in the mRNA 3′ UTR can lead to reduced mRNA stability and translational repression, thereby regulating RNA gene expression ( Amort et al, 2013 ).…”

“…To do this, we predicted the possible miRNA binding sites on the lncRNA sequences and determine their normalized binding free energy (ndG) based on the complementary base pairing, using LncTar 19 . Furthermore, miRNA, lncRNA, their target genes, and the biological processes were connected on a critical network using Cytoscape version 3.7.2, as described previously 54,65 .…”
