The positive long-term outcomes of total hip replacements (THR) largely depend on the choice of joint articulation type, stem type, but also on the proper qualification of the patients. Material and methods. The study group comprised of 106 operated between 2009 and 2011. The inclusion criteria were: men, aged between 45 and 65 years at the time of surgery, received a Smith & Nephew NANOS prosthesis with Verilast articulation, primary THR, and no previous surgical interventions in the area of the operated hip. All patients were evaluated according to the Harris Hip Score (HHS) one day before surgery, then during a medical appointment at the hospital outpatient clinic in the year 2016 another evaluation using HHS, Hip disability and Osteoarthritis Outcome (HOOS) and Oxford Hip Score (OHS) was done. Patients were also subjected to X-ray examinations. Results. The parameters were evaluated among the whole study group, and with division into two age categories: below 60 years (group I, 48 patients) and over 60 years (group II, 58 patients). Patients obtained very good and good results for all the parameters evaluated in HHS, HOOS and OHS questionnaires. Conclusions. Examined prosthesis is a very good solution for middle-aged men. Undoubtedly, the specific narrow study group might have had an effect on the results. Maybe further analyses with specific groups of patients would allow surgeons to choose the right implants for particular patients, resulting in improvement of long-term outcomes associated with THR.Key words: short-stem; cementless hip arthroplasty; coxarthrosis; Nanos; Verilast; total hip, neck preserving THA. Odległe wyniki endoprotezoplastyki stawu biodrowego zależą w bardzo dużym stopniu od wyboru rodzaju endoprotezy, artykulacji stawowej, ale także od odpowiedniej kwalifikacji pacjenta do zabiegu. Materiał i metody. Grupa badana składała się ze 106 chorych operowanych w latach 2009-2011. Kryteria włączenia do badania: płeć męska, wiek pomiędzy 45 a 65 lat w momencie operacji, zabieg z zastosowaniem protezy firmy Smith&Nephew Nanos z artykulacją Verilast, endoprotezoplastyka pierwotna oraz brak wcześniejszych operacji stawu biodrowego. Wszyscy pacjenci zostali ocenieni zgodnie z protokołem Harris Hip Score dzień przed operacją. W 2016 roku w trakcie kontroli w ambulatorium przyszpitalnym pacjentów oceniono według protokołów: Harris Hip Score, Hip disability and Osteoarthritis Outcome oraz Oxford Hip Score.
