Celulas Sanguineas De Schroederichthys Chilensis (Guichenot 1848) (Elasmobranchii, Scyliorhinidae): La Serie Blanca

Show more

“…The species T. scylli and T. rajae have been found in the anterior intestine of elasmobranchs (Lom & Dyková 1992). T. humboldti Morillas, Nascimento & Khan, 1987, has been reported from the red-spotted catshark Schroederichthys chilensis (Guichenot, 1848) by Valenzuela et al (2003). The type species of the genus Haemogregarina is H. stepanowi Danilewky, 1885, a parasite of Emys orbicularis Linnaeus, 1758.…”

“…A recent study of a trypanosome-infected population of the red-spotted catshark Schroederichthys chilensis (Guichenot, 1848) (infection prevalence 87%) found the highest eosinophil percentage reported to date in fishes (Valenzuela et al 2003).…”

“…The absent of thick grain leukocytes (basophiles and eosinophils) is coincident with other reports that indicate these cells are scarcely present in the periferical blood, furthermore, their absence is usual in most teleosts fish (Olabuenaga 2000, Tavares-Diaz 2006 ). This might be related to the fact that the granulocytes are located in other tissues, such as dermis, intestinal tissue, gills, natatory bladder, hematopoietic tissue, nasal epithelium, heart and inflamed tissue in general (Ellis et al 1981, Suzuki and Iida 1992, Olabuenaga 2000, Valenzuela et al 2003. The granulocytes of thick grain belongs to an heterogeneous group of cells named mastocytes which plays a defensive role and are located in different tissues in the organism (Reite 1998).…”

“…Studies performed by Valenzuela et al (1999) and Valenzuela et al (2003) have characterized blood cells from wild fish native to Chile. To date there are no studies of the differences in the hematologic parameters between uninfested and infested captive robalo E. maclovinus with C. rogercresseyi.…”
