Cellulose–water system’s state analysis by proton nuclear magnetic resonance and sorption measurements

Abstract: Most cellulose-based materials' manufacturing processes include processing this biopolymer in an aqueous medium. Sorption properties depend on cellulose supramolecular structure and nature of its change during moistening. Plenty of researchers' efforts have been directed to the development of scientifically sound and commercially reliable processes over the past decade for the cellulose fibers' dispersion in an aqueous medium. Therefore, it needs a more detailed study of the cellulose-water system components' … Show more

“…In addition, some patients have anxiety before the examination due to insufficient cognition of MRI enhancement scanning, which is unfavorable to the development of the examination. Therefore, nursing measures should also be taken to intervene in the process of nuclear MRI enhancement imaging [ 10 , 11 ].…”

“…The ability of glucopyranose rings to form intramolecular and intermolecular hydrogen bonds, however, leads to the aggregation of elementary fibrils even in these spaces. This allows us to attribute the most reactive amorphous part of cellulose exclusively to the surface of the crystallites in the interfibrillar pores [46]. The processing of cellulose fibers often changes both the structure and the sorption properties of the polymer [47].…”

“…Special studies have been devoted to disclosing the sorption mechanism of Water Vapor (WV) by hydrophilic polymers. Various sorption models have been proposed, such as the Langmuir model of monomolecular surface adsorption [4,5] , BET, BAG, and GDW models of multimolecular surface adsorption [5][6][7][8][9][10][11], as well as models of Henry, Flory-Huggins, and Hailwood-Horrobin of water dissolution in polymers [6,[11][12][13]. In addition, also empirical models were used to describe the sorption isotherms [5].…”
