“…Alpha-cellulose spectrum shows peaks at 3354 cm -1 (O-H stretch), 2902 cm -1 (C-H sp3 stretch), 1641 cm -1 (absorbed H 2 O bending), 1429 cm -1 (CH scissoring bending), 1160 cm -1 (C-O ether stretch), 1110 cm -1 (C-O stretch 2 o alcohol), 1057 cm -1 (C-O stretch 1 o alcohol). Presence of lignin can be noticed by adsorbed peaks at 1500-1600 cm -1 and 1220 cm -1 due to aromatic C=C and C-O phenolic bonds; And also hemicellulose shows C=O stretch bond at 1715-1730 cm -1 (Viera et al, 2007;Moran, Alvarez, Cyras, & Va´zquez, 2008;Rehman et al, 2013;Yan, Villarreal, & Xu, 2013;Kardam, Rohit Raj, Srivastava, & Srivastava, 2014). Presence of mentioned peaks in impurity FTIR spectrum (Figure 4.c), and absence of these peaks in cellulose FTIR, shows our method is able to extract lignin and hemicellulose, which leads to purer cellulose.…”

“…Reported results in recent researches show that lignin and hemicellulose start to decompose at 200 o C (Rehman et al, 2013;Sun & Sun, 2002). For this reason TGA analyses of raw material and extracted alpha cellulose were studied.…”

“…It is believed that the cellulosic materials degrade at low to moderate temperature [18,42]. In general, the thermal decomposition of cellulosic materials begins at lower temperature for hemicelluloses followed by an early stage of pyrolysis of lignin and then decomposition of cellulose [43].…”

“…The CNC can be separated by acid hydrolysis of pure cellulosic fibers or micro fibrillated cellulose [11,17,18]. The most common acid used is the sulphuric acid [13,[16][17][18][19][20], which was used for the first time by…”
